ADMS-1J Programmer for the Yaesu FT-60 Handheld

The Programmer for the FT-60 is designed to give you the ease and convenience of programming the memories and options of your radio from your PC. Management of the memory channels and the options of this great little radio become easy with the Programmer. New to the ADMS-1J...the Programmer opens in the last file saved. This reduces time spent opening the file in which you worked last.

The Programmer opens the first tie in a new, ‘factory fresh’ file into which frequencies and option settings can be entered. If you have already programmed your radio by hand, you can read from the radio, store the information in a file on your computer and easily make changes. Then, with minimal button pushing, send the new configuration back to the radio. Files can even be shared between users via e-mail or the Internet. Besides eliminating most of the button pushing and knob turning, the greatest convenience of the Programmer lies in the fact that multiple files for your radio can be saved on your computer. These files are there to instantly restore a reset radio, to reprogram a radio for a trip or special event, or to share with friends. Through a minimum of button presses your radio is ready to go.

The ADMS-1J Programmer lets you create and save as many files as you want for your radio. You can even open more than one at the time. Memory channel information can be copied from one file to another within the Programmer making it really easy to set up a new file. You can even copy several channels at once. Simply select the channels. Then select Edit | Copy (or press Ctrl C)

Then after selecting the same number of channels in the other file, select Edit | Paste (or press Ctrl V). The information for the channels is repeated into the new file.

Hardware Requirements In addition to a PC running  (98, ME, NT4.0, 2000 or XP), you need a free (one on which a modem is not configured) 9-pin serial port on your PC and the CT-29A and CT-28A programming cables, which are included in the ADMS-1J kit. The cables connects the radio to the computer between the serial port on the computer and the mic jack of the radio. a USB to serial adapter can be used if a 9-pin serial port is not available on your computer.

Memory channels are assigned to Memory Banks by checking the box for the bank right at the end of the memory channel information. A memory channel can be put into none, one or all the 10 Memory Banks.

To more easily manage the Memory Banks, the Programmer offers a view that displays only the Receive Frequency, Name and Memory Banks 1-10. With the other information hidden, you can see at a glance how the channels are sorted into the Banks. To see this display, select View | Bank Settings from the menu on the main screen. To return to the full view, simply uncheck the Bank Settings selection.

The Options Screen (View | Options) controls two things about the main screen of the Programmer. The Freeze Columns setting locks columns on the left of the screen. These columns will remain visible as you scroll to the right.

The Columns to Hide setting hides columns on all the screens; Memories, VFO, and Home. Since the Programmer enters information automatically for many of the settings, there is no need to deal with a column that is never used. Information in a hidden column is saved to the file; however, it is not printed. You can control your printout by limiting the columns that are printed. The fewer columns that you print, the larger the type in the printout. Hide and unhide columns at any time. Data in those columns is not lost: it simply is not visible.

The Settings screen of the Programmer (View | Settings) is used to customize many of the features of the FT-60. Check boxes that toggle features on or off, drop down boxes that list all selections, and blank boxes into which you enter personalized selections add to the ease of programming this marvel of transceivers.

The entries on this Setting screen are made for you to "Set and Forget". Once settings are customized, you will be prompted to save before exiting. Once you save the file your settings will be there every time you create a new file.
